Alex Alvarez Named Co-Chair of National Litigation Committee

Feb 11, 2006

The Firm is proud to announce that Alex Alvarez was named Co-Chair of the Trial Committee in the Medtronic Multi District Litigation yesterday.

The litigation involves implantable cardiac defibrillators manufactured by Medtronic. On February 3rd 2005, Medtronic announced the recall of several models of its implanted defibrillators. The devices were recalled because they are prone to battery shortages which can cause them to fail, presenting a life-threatening situation. The battery problem affects Medtronic's Marquis line, which includes the brand names Marquis, Maximo and InSynch. It is estimated that as many as 87,000 of these devices were implanted in patients before 2003.
